POEM - At peace

And then, like a butterfly coming to rest,

The silence settles on you so deep

That you feel it in the pit of your stomach

Travelling down, through, within,

Into the very core of your being,

Seeping slowly across the mesh

Of tissue and blood and bone,

Feeding, nourishing, healing

The parts of you that you didn’t even know

Were broken, reaching

A place that you didn’t even know existed,

Piecing you back together

Into your beautiful whole. 

A silence so deep

That finally you can hear

The murmurings of your soul.
